Remember the Pirate Party for little Jack? Well . . . you can’t really be a pirate without pirate garb. Once again my Silhouette came to the rescue!
- two pieces of black craft felt
- one piece of white craft felt
- freezer paper
- white fabric paint
- a black t-shirt in your favorite pirate’s size
- and this Silhouette template
Use the Silhouette pattern to make a template for the hat (I used a 12 by 12 piece of heavy scrapbook paper), and cut out two pieces from the black felt. Sew them together along the outer seam, and then sew in about an inch on each side.
Use the Silhouette pattern to make a template for the skull and cross bones, and cut it out of the white felt. Then . . . you can make it even more special by adding the pirate’s name to the back of the hat!
I used fabric glue to add on the skull, crossbones, and letters to the hat, and then to make it look a little nicer, I hand stitched around everything.
For the shirt, I used the same skull and crossbones and coney island font. I used my Silhouette and cut out a pattern on freezer paper. Have you used freezer paper yet with fabric paint to make a personalized shirt?? It’s super fun. I’m insanely addicted. For a great tutorial on doing this, check out Make It and Love It.
In fact, I got so addicted to making shirts and pirate attire, that I decided to make some for my own little baby pirates.
Aren’t they adorable?
Don’t you just want to walk the plank for them?? Happy looting!
